SPCHEO Profile
The State Planning Committee for Health Education in Ohio (SPCHEO) is a state coalition
of over forty government agencies, universities, voluntary health organizations and
professional associations dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the health of Ohio’s
citizens. SPCHEO has been supporting school health for over fifty years.
SPCHEO Vision
The mission of the State Planning Committee for Health Education in Ohio (SPCHEO) is to
be a strong state-wide coalition, advocating for removing the barriers to learning by
utilizing research-based programs. SPCHEO strives for our children, families, and
communities to be among the healthiest in the nation.
Sponsored Activities:
Continuing education, including statewide conferences and regional workshops
Advocacy for health policy, funding, and programs
Technical assistance to schools and community coalitions
Publications to support Coordinated School Health, which includes health
education, physical education, health services, school food service, health
promotion for staff, school counseling and psychological services, a healthful
environment, and parent and community involvement.
