Coordination is a Verb:
Coordinating School Health
The 2009 Coordinated School
Health Conference was designed to help school health teams
understand how important it is to approach health
initiatives from a systems perspective at the district
level. The approach requires rigorous process planning to

research base methods that drive toward positive and
sustainable health and education outcomes for Ohio students.
The process requires
-

-
Engaging a critical mass of
district leaders, community leaders, parents and school
staff
-
Increasing communication
about health and achievement and

Catch
Program
The Ohio
Department of Education is offering CATCH
(Coordinated Approach to Student Health) Programs and
training to schools with a coordinated school health team in
place.
CATCH is
the coordinated approach to child health. The goal of CATCH
is to affect children's attitudes and behaviors towards
nutrition and physical activity. It is the largest
school-based promotion study that has been done in the
United States. CATCH was shown to improve children's food
and activity behaviors, increase levels of activity in
physical education classes, and reduce the fat content of
school lunches.
